Clark, NV (May 12, 2022) – On Thursday afternoon, May 12, North Las Vegas Police officers and Clark officials went to the site of a truck collision causing injuries to investigate.
The tractor-trailer wreck, first reported around 4:00 p.m., left four or so lanes of Interstate 15 southbound blocked with stop-and-go traffic, near Owens Avenue and back to Lake Mead Boulevard.
Paramedics also arrived at the area to check on victims and evacuate any person with moderate to serious injuries, but EMTs and officers have not disclosed the extent of the victims’ injuries or the reason for the crash itself. The accident is now being investigated by Clark officials, and no further information was made public at this time.
We offer our wishes for a complete, speedy recovery to the victims who have been injured, as well as their families.
Accidents Involving 18-Wheeler Trucks in Nevada
In comparison with 1975, the first year that traffic data was collected on injuries and fatalities in semi-truck accidents, the rate of deaths amongst both car and truck drivers or passengers per mile traveled has dropped.
Despite this, commercial vehicles, including but not limited to tractor-trailers, oversized metro buses, and the like, were involved in roughly 350,000 crashes countrywide in only one year, per the latest traffic data recorded by data and traffic analysts.
In these crashes, about 4,100 people died and 100,000 more were gravely injured. Unfortunately, terrible situations like these take place fairly often and are relatively commonplace in Nevada. This is particularly apt in cities like Las Vegas and Reno, Sparks, Henderson, and Carson City, which have densely populated metro regions. Needless to say, these major semi-truck accidents can lead to significant physical injuries, major mental distress, and serious financial woes.
