Henderson, NV (June 22, 2022) – On Wednesday afternoon, June 22, in Henderson, a portion of Stephanie Street at Warm Springs Road was blocked while police investigated a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
There were reports of a crash between two pedestrians and a gold Cadillac at around 3:00 p.m., and according to initial reports from the Henderson Police Department, the pedestrians were crossing in a designated crosswalk when they were hit by the car.
One person was evacuated in serious condition by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The second pedestrian was treated for minor injuries at the site and released. All northbound lanes of Stephanie were closed at Warm Springs as police continued their investigation. No additional details were provided to the public, and it’s unclear if citations or charges will be issued to the suspected at-fault driver.
Our sincere consolations go out to the two injured victims and their families, and we are hoping that they both make a complete recovery.
Serious Injuries Caused by Nevada Pedestrian Accidents
According to preliminary data from the Nevada Department of Transportation, 2021 was the worst year for fatal and injury-causing vehicle accidents in the Silver State since 2005. Indeed, over 400 people had perished on Nevada’s streets by the end of December of the previous year, a 22% increase over the previous year.
Plus, around 250 people were killed in Clark County, where the trend was substantially worse. Unfortunately, excessive speed and intoxicated driving were the principal causes of these fatal accidents, particularly those involving pedestrians.
In addition, pedestrian fatalities are on the rise across the state, with up to 85 persons expected to have died by the time tallies and numbers are finalized for 2021. Unfortunately, when a victim is hit by a motorist who is not paying attention, they are far more likely to suffer life-threatening injuries or even die.
Victims of such occurrences may suffer from permanent, debilitating injuries and agony. If victims recover entirely, they may be overwhelmed by the quickly escalating costs of medical treatment, lost income, and lost future salaries, as well as other connected expenditures. When a pedestrian is killed, his or her bereaved family must pay excessive medical and funeral expenses while mourning. If you or a loved one were injured or killed in a preventable accident, you have options.
