In Nevada, hit-and-run drivers are responsible for a high share of traffic accidents. A new analysis indicates that Nevada has one of the nation’s highest rates of deadly hit-and-run incidents.

In addition, the most recent figures from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety revealed that more than one hit-and-run accident occurs every minute on U.S. highways, making Nevada’s increasing occurrence of these accidents especially troubling. In 2016, there were about 2,055 deaths as a result of these incidents, the highest number ever documented and an almost 65 percent increase since 2009.

As a direct result of such catastrophic automotive accidents, victims may incur significant financial burdens, endure excruciating physical pain and suffering, and feel profound emotional anguish. Moreover, if the individual responsible for the accident flees the scene without rendering help or giving information to the victim, the victim may not know where to seek assistance, further complicating things.
