Winchester-Area Hit-and-Run Vehicle Wrecks
Hit-and-run drivers are responsible for a significant number of Nevada’s yearly 40,500 automobile accidents. Sadly, these drivers flee the site of the accident after causing it. And a recent analysis found that Nevada has one of the highest rates of deadly hit-and-run events in all of the United States.
This is a particularly troubling figure to consider in light of the fact that the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety estimates that hit-and-run incidents occur on the highways of the United States almost once per minute. These statistics, together with an increase in the number of hit-and-run incidents that have been occurring in Nevada recently, raise major concerns about the current state of traffic in the state.
In 2016, these incidents were responsible for the deaths of as many as 2,060 persons, which was the highest number ever documented and represented a 69% increase over the previous year’s total. In 2009, a total of about 1,380 persons lost their lives as a direct consequence of these disasters.
Automobile accident victims are at risk of enduring significant emotional anguish in addition to severe physical pain, astronomical medical bills, and a drawn-out period of rehabilitation that might last a number of weeks or even months. If the person who caused the accident flees the scene without rendering help or providing information to the victim, the victim may have a more difficult time obtaining assistance, which may make the situation even more precarious.
