Las Vegas, NV (May 17, 2022) – An accident involving a semi-truck that occurred in the afternoon of Tuesday, May 17, and resulted in injuries prompted police from the local Las Vegas Metro Police to respond.
Because of the incident, which took place at around 12:45 p.m., there was a backup of traffic on roughly two right lanes of southbound Interstate 15 near Exit 40 to Sahara Avenue. In addition, emergency medical technicians from Las Vegas were sent to the scene in order to assess the extent of the injuries sustained by the victims and transport those who were critically injured.
There has been no information provided by either the emergency medical services or the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on the nature of the incident or the injuries that have been suffered by victims, however.
Although they are continuing their investigation and looking into the events that took place just before the incident, authorities did not release any further details.
Our deepest sympathies go out to those who have been hurt, and we pray for their speedy and full recovery.
18-Wheeler Truck Accidents Across Nevada
The number of fatalities that occurred among vehicle occupants per truck mile traveled has decreased, bringing the figure down to approximately 680 from nearly 920 over the last 40 years, from when fatal accident data was initially collected.
According to the most current statistics on traffic in the Silver State, however, commercial vehicles such as enormous tractor-trailers, oversized metro-area buses, and other similarly large vehicles were a contributing factor in approximately 361,000 accidents throughout the nation in just one single year.
Nearly 4,650 people lost their lives as a direct result of these incidents, while another 105,000 were badly injured. Unfortunately, the state of Nevada is home to an alarmingly high number of semi-trailer accidents. This is especially true in densely populated areas such as Sparks, Reno, Paradise, Henderson, and Las Vegas, which include a number of major thoroughfares such as U.S. Highway 95, Interstate 15, U.S. Highway 93, and Nevada Interstate 515, and even further afield.
In the event that you are involved in an accident with the driver of a semi-trailer, you run the risk of sustaining critical physical injuries, significant emotional anguish and trauma, and life-altering financial implications.
