Las Vegas, NV – I-15 Site of Truck Accident, Injuries at Sahara Ave
Las Vegas, NV (June 23, 2022) – Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were sent to investigate an accident involving a tractor-trailer driver on Thursday morning, June 23, in which at least one person was injured.
A collision on the southbound I-15 near the Sahara Avenue exit completely shut down the highway just before 11:15 a.m. While paramedics and emergency medical services units from Las Vegas were sent to the scene to evaluate the victims’ injuries, the incident caused a considerable traffic jam that lasted for more than an hour.
The reason for the collision and the nature of the injuries experienced by the individuals involved, however, have not been disclosed by the LVMPD or any other first responders on the site. No new information has been revealed despite the ongoing official investigation into what caused today’s traffic crash.
We hope that everyone hurt in today’s incident recovers quickly and completely.
Large Truck Crashes Throughout Las Vegas
More than 49,000 accidents were reported by the Nevada Department of Transportation in the most recent year. Unfortunately, the number of accidents involving tractor-trailers and other big, heavy vehicles is much higher. More than a tenth of all road fatalities in Nevada were caused by truck accidents. Furthermore, due to the state’s extensive road network, major truck accidents occur much too often in Nevada.
Over 4,600 persons lost their lives as a result of these tragedies, indicating that Nevada has an extremely high risk of catastrophic tractor-trailer crashes. Highway 95 through Las Vegas, Interstate 15 through Reno, U.S. Route 93, Nevada Interstate 395, and the region around Carson City are just a few of the roadways where this problem is most common. Naturally, those who have been affected by such tragedies and their families are at their most vulnerable in the aftermath.
