Serious Injury in Nevada Pedestrian Accidents

The preliminary state numbers that were supplied by the Nevada Department of Transportation indicate that 2021 was the worst year for automobile accidents in the Silver State since 2006, according to the statements made by officials. By the end of December, there had been approximately 390 people who died on Nevada’s roadways, representing an increase of about 21% in comparison to the year 2020.

The numbers were even grimmer in and around Clark County, where there were around 250 deaths. Unfortunately, the most common reasons for these fatal accidents were excessive speed and driver impairment, and this was especially true for collisions in which pedestrians were involved.

Across the state, pedestrian fatalities are also on the rise year over year, with more than 80 people losing their lives in 2021 alone. When a victim is hit by a reckless motorist, sadly, they are at a significantly greater risk of suffering severe, life-threatening injuries or perhaps dying as a result of the collision. Accidents like this often leave the victims with painful, chronic physical problems that could last for the rest of their lives.

In the event that victims are able to achieve a complete recovery from their injuries, they may be taken aback by the rapidly growing costs of medical care, lost wages and future earnings, and other associated expenses. When a pedestrian is killed, however, the devastated family members of the deceased are forced to face exorbitant medical expenditures and burial costs, all as they attempt to properly grieve their lost loved one.
