Las Vegas, NV (May 29, 2022) – Officers with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department are now investigating a collision that occurred on Sunday, May 29, and resulted in one or more people being injured.
After receiving a complaint about the incident, which occurred at the intersection of northbound Interstate 15 and Exit 40 to Sahara Avenue, police arrived at the site of a multi-car collision at about 10:25 p.m. According to the earliest reports, two cars collided in what seemed to be a rear-end incident as traffic in the area slowed.
As a result of the incident, emergency medical workers transported at least one patient in an ambulance to a local healthcare institution. Detectives are now piecing together what transpired and have not released any further information.
All of the victims who were injured are in our thoughts, and we wish them a complete and speedy recovery.
Las Vegas Motor Vehicle Crash Statistics
The Nevada Department of Public Safety has released monthly and year-to-date statistics on the number of accidents that have occurred in each of the state’s counties. The total number of accidents that have occurred in each county is included in these numbers. There was a more than three-fold rise in the number of wrecks in May of the previous year, as well as an almost 113% increase in the number of fatal accidents.
Furthermore, the number of fatal car accidents in Nevada over the previous year and a half has more than quadrupled when compared to the same time period in the year 2020.
Approximately 50 occurrences occurred over this time period, with more than 30 people reported dead as a consequence of these events. The most current numbers show a significant increase from the beginning of the year to the present, demonstrating that catastrophic car accidents are much too common in our state. This is shown by the data, which indicate an increase from the start of the year to the present.
