Las Vegas, NV – SPD Report Injurious Sparks Blvd Auto-Pedestrian Wreck at Big Fish Dr

Las Vegas, NV (November 18, 2021) – Troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol, in conjunction with Sparks Police Department officers, are investigating a serious auto-pedestrian wreck that occurred overnight.

Around 4:45 a.m., officers arrived at the scene at Sparks Boulevard, close to Big Fish Drive. The southbound lanes were closed while police and investigators scrubbed the scene.

EMS units transported a pedestrian to an area medical center in unknown condition. Authorities added that a dog, presumably walking with the pedestrian, was killed.

It’s unclear if the driver involved in the wreck stayed at the scene to cooperate with investigators. The investigation into the events surrounding the accident remains active at this time, however.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, their family, and everyone else affected by this collision. We hope for the victim’s full recovery.

Nevada Pedestrian Accidents

Las Vegas, NV - SPD Report Injurious Sparks Blvd Auto-Pedestrian Wreck at Big Fish DrThough pedestrian fatalities have decreased 3% from 2018, they still account for nearly 20% of all vehicle accident deaths, per reports from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Even worse, the pedestrian fatality rate in and around the Las Vegas area, including Reno, has been rising steadily during the past decade. This increase is despite the fact that traffic deaths across the state of Nevada are down on the whole.

Sadly, it’s all too clear that serious pedestrian accidents in Nevada are an unfortunate fact of life, particularly on the busy streets of Reno, Las Vegas, Clark, Carson City, and beyond. Furthermore, when it comes to these fatal accidents, victims and their families pay the price in the aftermath.

In fact, those affected often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and emotional trauma. When victims die as a result of these incidents, their loved ones may be left in an unbelievably tough position. Families must often endure exorbitant medical and funerary expenses.

From lifelong debilitation for the involved pedestrians to severe trauma for those left behind when victims pass away, those affected are left to pick up the pieces.

Thankfully, if you’ve sustained injuries or lost a loved one in an auto-pedestrian accident, you may have legal options.
