Paradise, NV (July 24, 2022) – One person was sent to a hospital after a major crash on westbound Highway 592/Flamingo Road.
Sunday, July 24, at about 7:25 p.m., officers from the Paradise Police Department and Nevada State Troopers responded to an accident near the intersection of Flamingo Road and Highway 95. However, it is unknown how many persons were sent to a nearby medical institution as a result of the event.
The NSP troopers and PPD police finished their evaluation of the area prior to reopening the freeway. However, anybody who had seen or heard anything was asked to come forward and tell officers what transpired. At this time, investigators are still putting together the sequence of events.
We continue to keep everyone touched by this accident in our thoughts and prayers.
Accident Rates in Las Vegas and the State of Nevada
The Nevada Department of Public Safety has released county monthly and yearly accident statistics. Recently and regrettably, in May, authorities say the number of fatalities and accidents increase by 87% and 125%, respectively. Since this time last year, the number of car accidents in Nevada has increased by at least thrice.
In addition, fatal rollovers have increased in frequency in recent years. According to state statistics, inebriated or otherwise impaired drivers are responsible for at least 47% or more of all road fatalities in Nevada and cause the bulk of rollover incidents. Approximately 655 people died in Nevada drunk driving-related vehicle accidents over the course of five years. Tragically, these incidents may result in catastrophic brain damage, spinal cord injuries, paralysis, chronic muscular discomfort, and scarring.
