Reno, NV (November 16, 2021) – Troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol are investigating a deadly accident that shut down a highway for five hours on Tuesday evening, November 16.

The crash, which was reported around 2:30 p.m., happened right above Sky Tavern on the Mt. Rose Highway, according to the NHP.

NHP troopers added that two cars were involved in the wreck and at least two other people sustained injuries.

The roadway reopened around 7:30 p.m., about five hours after the incident occurred, allowing crews some time to investigate and clear the area.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, and no other details have been provided. EMS units transported the two injured victims to an area hospital, though their current conditions remain unclear.

Officers say their investigation is ongoing but asked anyone with information to contact the NHP.
