Hit-Skip Accidents in the Greater Las Vegas Area
Hit-and-run drivers account for an all-too-vast majority of the state’s 39,000 yearly car accidents. Due to their concern for their personal safety or to escape penalties, many drivers flee the scene of an accident. This leaves others to cope with the consequences, unfortunately. In point of fact, Nevada, according to a recent study, has one of the nation’s highest rates of deadly hit-and-run accidents.
And as per information released by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, a hit-and-run occurs somewhere in our country every minute. Concerns about Nevada’s current traffic issue are heightened by the recent spike in hit-and-run cases.
The number of people killed in accidents in 2016 — 2,050 — was the highest ever recorded, representing a 73% increase from 2015. Also in 2009, there were 1,350 persons killed in situations of a similar kind, which indicates an increase in both the number of and the severity of the occurrences. Victims of motor vehicle collisions must endure not only the agony of their injuries but also the strain of mounting medical bills and the uncertainty of how long it will take them to heal, which might be several weeks. A victim of an accident may find themselves in a far more dangerous scenario if no one comes to their aid or gives them information after an accident has occurred.
