Nevada Traffic Crash Injuries in Multiple-Vehicle Wrecks
It is difficult to determine the daily accident rate in our state since data changes from year to year and data for 2020 has not yet been provided. For 2019, only fatal traffic accidents are reported in our state. According to these statistics, 284 deaths were recorded in 2019. 185 deaths occurred in Clark County, where Las Vegas is situated.
Approximately one death is recorded every other day in Las Vegas. The Nevada Department of Transportation maintains accident records, however, 2010 is the most recent year for which a complete data set is available. And according to the Nevada Department of Transportation, there were a total of 51,664 collisions recorded in the state in 2010. Of these, 32,754 included property damage, and 18,675 involved injuries. In that year, there were 235 deaths, indicating that the number of fatal accidents recorded in our state in 2019 was more than it was a decade before. Approximately 80% of all traffic collisions happened in Clark County.
The data indicates that 43.3% of the 51,664 collisions recorded in the state were handled by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Thus, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department recorded around 22,215 collisions. This equates to around 60.9, or almost 61, accidents every day.
