Steve, and his litigation team, achieved one of the largest single personal injury person settlements in Nevada history. His client, a young father, suffered a TBI from a fall in a local casino. After years of litigation, limited offers to settle, and over 50 court appearances, Steve’s team settled the case for over $30,0000,000.00.
In another catastrophic injury matter, Steve’s team was forced to file suit against auto and tire manufacturers for known product defects. With offers not even approaching the medical bills incurred by our client, and a client that had to work for years to learn to walk again, we filed suit. During litigation, our team located corporate documents hidden among hundreds of boxes of documents, proving the defendants knew of the exact issue which caused our client’s crash. A settlement of over $5,000,000.00 soon followed.
A few years later, Steve’s team represented another local injured in a casino. Steve’s client suffered a TBI when an 80lb piece of decorative glass crashed down on her while dining in a casino restaurant. Again, after aggressively litigating and offering almost nothing, the defendants settled the matter for $3,200,000.00 just before trial.
Steve’s team recently represented the family and estate of a local man who was allowed to wander off under the care of a licensed senior care home. After being missing for hours, he was finally found face down in rocks over a mile away, dead in the Las Vegas summer heat. While the home denied all liability, aggressive litigation, using proper experts, video recreation, and animations enabled a seven-figure confidential settlement for the family.
Representing a catastrophically injured lady in Hawaii, Steve’s team filed suit against a strip mall for failing to maintain their property. Their failure to provide a simple railing caused our client to fall, break her neck and sever her spinal cord, rendering her a quadriplegic. Steve’s team prosecuted the matter in Hawaii to the fullest extent possible, and just before trial, a seven-figure confidential settlement was reached.
For over 20 years, Steve has represented thousands of injured people, enabling each to fight for a proper recovery. While litigating against local, regional, national, and international firms, Steve has appeared in the State and Federal Courts of Nevada, Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Utah and consulted on matters in Florida, Ohio, and British Columbia, securing hundreds of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements. That experience earned Steve the highest rating, “AV” from his peers and judges.
Before joining the Eric Roy Law Firm, Steve represented various entities in business expansion
opportunities, drafted and negotiated formation documents, purchase agreements, employment agreements, JVs, sales agreements, and international contracts. He negotiated tens of millions of dollars of transactions –things few litigation attorneys can claim. Steve also worked as outside litigation and general counsel for the largest event transportation company in the world, a large regional real estate developer, a multi-state auto sales conglomerate, and a Level I Trauma Center.
Having graduated from a local Las Vegas high school, he was proud to return home to start his litigation practice almost 25 years ago. While away, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1995. After that, in 1998, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pacific. While in law school, he was a published author in the school’s Law Review.
In his spare time, Steve is an avid sports fan whose children have competed in Football, Cheer, Track, and Cello. Steve also enjoys hiking and mountaineering, completing an ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro and a winter ascent of Mount Washington.
