Nevada Traffic Accidents & Serious Injuries
Every day, drunk driving kills more than 40 individuals in the United States. In spite of a 30% reduction, drunk driving remains a leading cause of death in the United States, taking the lives of more than 10,000 people every year. In order to improve the sobriety checkpoint statistics offered for 2013 and 2014, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration surveyed drivers in all 48 contiguous states.
According to the statistics supplied to law enforcement, 26% of weekend drivers tested positive for drugs that can impair driving, and DWI occurs when a driver’s attention is diverted from the road. Those who use the sidewalks and streets are in grave danger from careless drivers. People who are distracted while driving pose a threat to other motorists and passengers. Distracted driving includes activities as diverse as chatting with passengers, fidgeting with the stereo, and typing out texts.
Car accidents claimed the lives of almost 3,500 Americans last year. Some of these deaths probably were caused, at least in part, by distracted drivers. Twelve percent of all incidents include a hit-and-run driver, and this number has risen in the last decade. If you create an accident in Nevada and then try to leave without dealing with the aftermath, you might face up to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine. In the event of a car accident, however, you may make a claim with the insurer of the negligent motorist.
