Sparks, NV – One Dead in RV Park/Trailer Fire at Nichols Blvd & Victorian Ave
Sparks, NV (May 31, 2022) – One person was pronounced dead at the scene of a Sparks RV park fire on Tuesday morning, May 31.
Officers with the Sparks Police Department say the trailer fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. and was initially reported in a 5th wheel trailer, located in the area of Nichols Boulevard and Victorian Avenue. Crews extinguished the fire quickly but upon further investigation, responders found a victim who had died inside the trailer.
No one else suffered injuries, and the blaze was apparently contained to just one trailer. Details about the deceased victim were not immediately available. The cause of the blaze still remains under investigation, though SPD officers noted the fire as suspicious and are still collecting evidence in connection with the incident.
We would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the family members and loved ones of the victim who died in this fire.
Nevada Residential Fire Deaths & Injuries
Every year, fire departments throughout the United States react to an estimated 3,500 building fires at hotels and motels. Despite the fact that these fires account for just 1% of all structural fires, they resulted in 9 fatalities, 120 injuries, and about $85 million in property damage last year.
Cooking equipment and kitchen mishaps are the primary causes of fires in these homes, accounting for roughly half of all fires. Unfortunately, these fires were responsible for 8% of civilian deaths and more than 20% of all injuries. Serious injury typically occurs when a person is exposed to fire, caustic chemicals, or extreme heat.
Furthermore, burn injuries may result in long-term deformity as well as expensive medical procedures like skin grafts and other operations. As a consequence, persons who have been impacted by these catastrophes often experience financial struggles, significant medical conditions, and mental sorrow. And when individuals are killed in these fires, their families may be put in a tough position. Families must deal with enormous medical bills and unexpected funeral fees on top of mourning the untimely death of a loved one.
