Sparks, NV – Victims Hurt After Semi-Truck Wreck, Fire on I-80 at Sparks Blvd
Sparks, NV (August 6, 2022) – A semi-truck and trailer caught fire soon after midnight on Saturday near the area of I-80 eastbound and Sparks Boulevard.
The Sparks Fire Department and Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue (TMFR) responded to a car fire at around 2:10 a.m. on August 6. According to Sparks Fire, the fire was caused by a collision between a tractor-trailer and another vehicle, although the exact reason is still under investigation.
The truck driver was able to escape the vehicle and was sent to a hospital with unknown injuries after the cab and half of the load, including food supplies, caught fire. As there were no fire hydrants nearby, TMFR was asked to help with water tenders, and more teams were sent to the area. As personnel cleared the site, roads were blocked for about nine hours but have since reopened.
We wish the victims of the truck accident a fast recovery and express our condolences.
