Apex, NV – Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident on N Las Vegas Blvd at Pabco Rd

Apex, NV (February 6, 2022) – One person is dead following a pedestrian accident that occurred near a rural Nevada highway early Sunday morning, February 6.

Around 4:00 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to North Las Vegas Boulevard at Pabco Road in the Apex area. Police say their initial reports indicated that the driver of a 2018 Nissan Altima was traveling south on Las Vegas when they struck a pedestrian walking the same way.

The pedestrian, an adult female who did not have any identification on her person at the time, was pronounced dead on the scene by responding medical staff. The 73-year-old driver of the Nissan showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with authorities.

However, the investigation is ongoing, and officers plan to release further details in the coming days.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Nevada

Apex, NV - Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident on N Las Vegas Blvd at Pabco RdDriving under the influence and failure to yield the right-of-way are two of the leading cause of traffic accidents in the Silver State. Moreover, these two causes, along with distracted driving and speeding, are the top contributors to auto-pedestrian wrecks in Nevada.

Even worse, pedestrian fatalities account for nearly 20% of all vehicle accident deaths, per reports from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Although deaths were lower in 2019 overall, they have increased more than 50% since reaching their lowest point, recorded in 2009. Unfortunately, the pedestrian fatality rate in and around the greater Las Vegas area, including Reno, has risen steadily in the last decade.

Major financial difficulties, long-term physical issues and disability, and severe emotional scarring are just a few of the devastating circumstances victims endure. And when victims die as a result of these incidents, their loved ones may be left in an unbelievably tough position. Families must often cope with exorbitant medical and funerary expenses on top of grieving their loved ones.

Thankfully, if you’ve sustained injuries or lost someone you love in an auto-pedestrian accident, you may have legal options moving forward.
