Most Frequent Causes of Auto Accidents in Nevada
Even though Nevada has lower death and injury rates than the national average, some people blame the state’s significant concentration of rural areas. However, things aren’t quite so simple in practice. Even if fatal incidents occur more frequently in urban areas, they nonetheless happen in quite high numbers in rural areas. After work, traffic on Nevada’s roadways peaks from 5 to 9 p.m. and then drops significantly between midnight and 6:30 a.m.
The death toll was highest between the hours of five and eleven at night. An increase in traffic-related fatalities and injuries in recent years has exacerbated an already dangerous condition on Nevada’s roads. According to the Office of Traffic Safety, over 280 people lost their lives in traffic-related events in 2016. There were over a thousand people hurt in Nevada car accidents that year.
When a person is in a car accident, they may suffer injuries that are so severe that they are rendered helpless physically, emotionally, and financially. Many people who are involved in car accidents suffer from traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), most commonly from blunt force trauma or penetrating lesions to the skull. Therefore, yearly, around 51,000 deaths and another 100,000 cases of persistent impairment can be attributed to traumatic brain injuries.
