Las Vegas, NV (August 17, 2022) – Police in Las Vegas report that a 6-year-old boy riding a bicycle was killed in a hit-and-run at around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Several kids were seen by witnesses riding bikes near an alley leading to an apartment building on Karen Avenue. According to the police report, the 6-year-old boy walked into the road, collapsed, and was seriously struck and seriously hurt by a U-Haul truck. Police say the 21-year-old Michael Burdick driver checked on the child but fled the scene.

Later, EMTs rushed the boy to a nearby hospital, but he tragically passed away from his wounds. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a tip the next day, and Burdick was arrested and taken to jail. He has been charged with two counts of probation violation and one count of leaving the scene of an accident.

An investigation remains active at this time.
