Hit-and-Run Traffic Collisions Throughout Las Vegas
Hit-and-run drivers are to blame for a considerable proportion of the automobile collisions that take place in the state of Nevada on an annual basis. In fact, according to research that was recently released, Nevada is one of the states that has one of the highest rates of fatal hit-and-run occurrences across the whole country.
This is an especially disheartening development when one considers that the most current figures from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety suggest that hit-and-run incidents occur on U.S. highways at a rate of around once per minute. This fact, in conjunction with the fact that the number of accidents involving hit-and-run driving in Nevada has surged, makes the state’s predicament an extremely concerning one.
In 2016, these occurrences were responsible for the deaths of around 2,070 people, which is the largest number ever reported and represents an almost 67% rise from 2009. In 2009, the number of people who died as a result of these incidents was roughly 1,395. As a direct result of the collision, victims of such catastrophic car accidents may have extreme financial difficulties, tremendous physical pain from significant injuries, and a difficult healing process that may endure for weeks or months, not to mention the profound mental anguish or misery associated with such an accident.
In addition, if the individual who was responsible for the accident runs from the scene of the collision without giving the victim assistance or information, the victim may not know where to turn for assistance, which would make the situation much more complicated.
