Las Vegas, NV (September 3, 2022) – On Saturday, September 3rd, at 4:05 p.m., three vehicles were involved in a collision on Cheyenne Avenue at Buffalo Drive.
First responders arrived at the site around 2:05 p.m., but the number of people injured or sent to the hospital remained unclear despite their best efforts. While Las Vegas authorities undertake an on-site investigation and cleanup, drivers are asked to stay away from the area. As soon as the police have examined all parties and pertinent witnesses, they will have more information to provide. The Metro Police Department is still gathering information and wants to talk to anybody who may have observed anything earlier today.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured victims involved in Saturday’s traffic crash.
Statistics on Nevada Traffic Accident Injuries
From January through June of 2022, the number of fatalities on Nevada’s roads increased, as reported by the state’s transportation department. Death rates have increased by 11% nationwide, with the highest increase occurring in Nevada. The number of people killed or seriously injured in Clark County jumped by 23% between January and June of this year. The recent increase in fuel costs may have lowered the incidence of fatal accidents in Nevada’s main cities, where the vast majority of residents still rely on personal automobiles for transportation.
The number of deaths that may be due to accidents seems to have increased over the last three years, despite rising highway maintenance costs, gasoline prices, the implementation of COVID-19, and restrictions on shutdowns. Even those who survive a vehicle crash with minor injuries or property damage can face overwhelming mental and financial hurdles in the years that follow.
