Las Vegas, NV – Man Hospitalized After Pedestrian Accident on Craig Rd
Las Vegas, NV (September 7, 2022) – Following a collision in Las Vegas, one man believed to be in his 60s or 70s is in critical condition at UMC hospital.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, officers were dispatched to a collision in the 1900 block of West Craig around 12:00 p.m. The investigation revealed that a male pedestrian in a motorized wheelchair was trying to cross Craig Road before being struck by a westbound car.
NLVPD officers say the driver of the car stayed on the scene, and westbound traffic was closed from Scott Robinson to Clayton temporarily but has since reopened. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact officers who are still probing the crash.
We hope the wounded man makes a complete recovery and send our deepest sympathies his way.
Pedestrian Injuries Reported in Las Vegas Hit-and-Run Accidents
The Nevada Department of Transportation projects an increase in traffic-related deaths and injuries across the state in 2021. It is predicted that by the year 2021, these melancholic trends will have worsened even more than they did at their peak in 2002. The official numbers show that the number of people killed on Nevada’s roads increased from 280 in 2016 to 370 the following year. Needless to say, it is quite concerning that over the last decade, more than 250 pedestrians have lost their lives in Clark County due to accidents. More tragically, both impaired driving and high speeds had a role in the severity of these deadly incidents.
Pedestrians suffered a rise in injuries and deaths as a result of these incidents. Authorities anticipate that 95 pedestrians will have lost their lives in the state by the end of 2021, albeit this number and the exact numbers are still up for discussion. Walking people are more vulnerable to harm when drivers aren’t paying attention. While driving, several potentially hazardous activities may occur, such as texting, making phone calls, or adjusting the radio. It’s bad enough that these people were hurt or killed in an accident, and now they have to cope with the emotional and financial fallout. Some victims may have to fund their own medical costs and missed wages, even if they make a full recovery. You might have legal options if you or a loved one were hurt in a preventable accident.
