Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents in Las Vegas
The Nevada Department of Transportation anticipates an increase in traffic-related deaths and injuries in the state in 2021. Compared to 2002, when this unfortunate trend was at its peak, 2021 is expected to be even worse. In point of fact, the overall number of deaths on Nevada’s roads increased to 370 in 2017 from 280 in 2016. What’s more, there has been a disturbing uptick in the number of fatalities involving pedestrians in accidents in Clark County, with over 250 lives lost to such tragedies in the last decade.
Furthermore, these terrible accidents were exacerbated by both drunk driving and reckless speeding. In these incidents, pedestrians were injured or even killed at a much greater rate. According to officials, up to 95 pedestrians may have been killed in the state by the end of 2021; however, this figure and exact numbers are subject to change.
Needless to say, pedestrian accidents are far more likely to occur when drivers are distracted. This category of distracted driving includes bad habits like texting, making phone calls, and tinkering with the radio while behind the wheel. Adding insult to injury, the persistent emotional suffering, bodily harm, and significant monetary expenditures that catastrophe victims face worsen the situation. If they do recover fully, victims may still be responsible for covering the costs of their care and lost wages. You might have options if you or a loved one were hurt, or in the event that you’ve lost a loved one in a tragic wreck that might have been prevented.
