Serious Pedestrian Accidents in Nevada
Preliminary state numbers supplied by the Nevada Department of Transportation highlight the fact that 2021 was the worst year on record for motor vehicle accidents throughout the state since 2006. According to statements made by officials, by the end of the year, approximately 390 people had been killed on Nevada’s roadways, reflecting a 21% rise in deaths when compared to the previous year.
These figures from in and around Clark County were even more distressing, with a total of more than 250 fatalities. Regrettably, the most common sources of these deadly accidents were drivers who were under the influence and driving at excessive speeds. This was particularly true for collisions involving pedestrians.
Throughout the state, pedestrian deaths continue to increase year after year, with more than 80 pedestrians losing their lives in 2021 alone. When a pedestrian is struck by an irresponsible driver, they are at a considerably higher risk of sustaining serious, life-threatening injuries or even dying as a result of the crash. Incidents such as this usually leave their victims with painful, chronic health issues that they may have to deal with for the rest of their lives.
