Las Vegas, NV – Two Dead After Underground Tunnel Fire on Dean Martin Dr
Las Vegas, NV (April 25, 2022) – Clark County Fire Department crews responded to a deadly blaze that broke out at a building near I-15 and Blue Diamond Road on Monday afternoon, April 25.
Traffic cameras showed emergency vehicles parked at the entrance to Bass Pro Shops at Dean Martin Drive. Las Vegas Metro Police Department officers were also dispatched and said the fire was located in an underground tunnel. Around 3:45 p.m., rescue units put out the tunnel fire and conducted several searches for victims.
Upon further investigation, two people, a man and a woman, were found dead inside the tunnel.
The Clark County Corner’s Office will release the identities of both victims once next-of-kin notifications are complete. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, though fire investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze at this time.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims.
Deadly Commercial Fires in Nevada
After a victim is exposed to fire, caustic chemicals, or severe heat, they often sustain serious burns. In addition to these injuries being extremely painful and difficult to heal, they can also result in permanent deformity, costly surgical treatments, including skin grafts, and beyond.
Sadly, in 2020 alone, almost 20 fire fatalities were reported by authorities in the Silver State. Moreover, the national average was nearly 3 deaths and 10 injuries in 2019 per 1,000 fires.
Though deaths and injuries from commercial fires, as well as other burn injuries, remain fairly rare, they are nonetheless devastating to those involved. Moreover, those affected by these incidents often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and emotional trauma.
When victims die as a result of these fires, their loved ones may be left in an unbelievably tough position. Families must often endure exorbitant medical and funerary expenses on top of grieving the sudden loss of their loved one.
But if you’ve sustained injuries or had a loved one die in a fire, you may have legal options as you move forward. If you’ve been affected by one of these unfortunate accidents, please contact a Las Vegas burn injury attorney at your earliest convenience.
