Las Vegas, NV (June 27, 2022) – The motorist accused of DUI in a collision that resulted in the death of a bicyclist is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, and the deceased victim has also now been named.

On Friday, June 17, Raymond Perez-Hernandez, age 26, is suspected of striking and killing 41-year-old Abe Cruz Mendibles at the junction of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Pecos Road. Perez-Hernandez is charged with DUI resulting in death, reckless driving leading to death, and driving with a suspended license, according to the Las Vegas Metro Police.

The police did not identify the reason for his license suspension as of November 27, 2021. According to the police, Perez-Hernandez was driving too fast when he lost control and went up onto the sidewalk, striking and killing Mendibles. Currently, the inquiry is ongoing, but no additional information has been made public.
