Las Vegas, NV – UPDATE: Erica Morrell Identified in Deadly I-15 Wrong-Way Crash at Sloan

Las Vegas, NV (January 13, 2022) – Authorities with the Clark County Coroner’s Office identified 37-year-old Erica Marie Morrell as the woman who died in a wrong-way crash in the Las Vegas Valley on Monday evening, January 10.

The multi-vehicle pile-up was first reported around 6:00 p.m. and occurred on I-15 southbound near mile marker 20, located just south of Sloan. Police say the driver of a red Cadillac was traveling northbound in the far left lane when they hit a Toyota pick-up truck head-on.

The truck caught fire due to the impact, and three people inside were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac was also declared dead, and preliminary evidence suggested that the driver was impaired.

Four other vehicles veered to avoid the initial collision, which caused a separate crash. Two of those drivers were taken to University Medical Center with unspecified injuries but are in stable condition currently.

It’s unclear if Morrell was traveling in the pick-up truck or the Cadillac. She reportedly died from blunt trauma.

No other details have been available, though the investigation remains active at this time.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the deceased victims, including Erica Marie Morrell. Our thoughts are with all injured victims in hopes of a speedy recovery.
