Nevada Traffic Crash Data & Injury Statistics
The Nevada Department of Transportation predicts an increase in traffic-related deaths and injuries across the state in 2021. There was a peak in 2005, and 2021 is predicted to be even worse. In 2016, 280 people lost their lives on Nevada’s highways. That figure rose to 370 last year. Compared to last year, this represents an increase of about 30%. Over 250 pedestrians have been killed in incidents in Clark County, where this terrible trend has sadly been on the increase.
Intoxicated driving and excessive speeding contribute to the severity of these accidents, and more often than not, victims are killed or seriously injured as a result of these incidents. Officials have estimated that as many as ninety pedestrians may be killed in the state by the end of 2021.
More than twice as many pedestrians, for instance, are killed or injured in incidents involving inattentive drivers. Activities like texting, making phone calls, and fiddling with the radio fall under this category. Worse, victims of these disastrous wrecks must deal with ongoing psychological anguish, bodily impairment, and enormous financial losses. Even if the victims are able to make a full recovery, they can still be required to make up for lost wages and pay for their medical expenditures. It is possible for victims of a tragedy that may have been averted to initiate legal action on their behalf. If you or a loved one was injured or passed away as a result of a pedestrian accident in Las Vegas, you should speak with a local attorney as soon as possible.
