Reno, NV (March 18, 2022) – A wrong-way accident on Lemmon Drive killed one person and caused an hours-long shut down on Thursday afternoon, March 17.

Initial reports released by officers with the Reno Police Department indicate that the driver of a Chevy Suburban was traveling north on Lemmon when they crossed into the southbound lanes at 12:05 p.m. The Chevy driver then hit another motorist head-on, killing them instantly.

The wrong-way driver was transported to Renown Health via ambulance with only minor injuries. Their current condition, as well as their identity, is unclear.

The area of Lemmon Drive and Chickadee Drive was closed for just more than five hours while RPD officers conducted their investigation. Police do not believe speed or alcohol caused the crash, though their investigation remains active.
