Carson City, NV (November 16, 2021) – Nevada Highway Patrol troopers say that a passenger was killed in a rollover accident at the end of Tillman Lane on Tuesday afternoon, November 16.

Around 4:30 p.m., the driver of the vehicle, a parole absconder from Oregon that deputies had been seeking for more than a week, sped up behind a deputy and almost hit their patrol vehicle. The deputy recognized the car and driver as wanted, but the driver turned onto a side street to elude police.

The deputy then attempted to stop him, but the vehicle hit several other cars along the way. Finally, the driver turned onto Tillman Lane, hitting another vehicle in the intersection and causing a rollover wreck.

The vehicle rolled several times and ejected the passenger traveling inside. Despite life-saving measures performed by EMS units at the scene, the passenger was pronounced dead around 5:15 p.m.

The driver was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care flight for his injuries. It’s unclear if any other victims suffered injuries in the incident, and police did not say if the passenger was involved in or aware of the driver’s crimes.

NHP troopers and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office are conducting the investigation at this time. Anyone whose vehicle was hit during this incident is asked to call the non-emergency dispatch number.
