Las Vegas-Area Hit-and-Run Vehicle Wrecks

Las Vegas, NV - Hit-and-Run on Mtn Vista St at Harmon Ave Injures VictimsHit-and-run drivers account for a major portion of Nevada’s annual 40,500 car accidents. A sad fact is that many of these drivers flee to their own safety following a collision, leaving others in the dust to deal with the repercussions. Regrettably, Nevada claims one of the highest rates of fatal hit-and-run incidents in the United States, according to a new study.

Furthermore, the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety estimates that a hit-and-run accident occurs on American highways about once per minute, making this statistic all the more alarming. Combined with the recent surge in hit-and-run cases in Nevada, these stats raise serious concerns about the state’s present traffic situation.

As many as 2,060 people died as a result of these occurrences in 2016, which was the greatest number ever recorded and a 69% rise over 2015. Moreover, approximately 1,380 people were killed as a direct result of these catastrophes in 2009, showing that these incidents are only increasing in occurrence and severity.

What’s worse, victims of car accidents face not only physical but also mental hardships, including mounting medical expenditures and a recovery process that might take weeks or months. As a result, if the individual who caused the accident escapes without helping the victim or offering any information, the situation may become much more perilous for the victim.
