Las Vegas, NV (May 10, 2022) – Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to a major collision at a Las Vegas crossroads in the afternoon hours of Sunday, May 9.
Officers were directing traffic at 5:15 p.m. and reported the incident happened on westbound-eastbound Charleston Boulevard near Pecos Road and Palm Street. Two vehicles collided at the corner of Charleston and Pecos, according to the preliminary details, after one of the motorists reportedly ran the light.
Although no one seemed to be seriously injured in the crash, EMTs may have transported one person to a local hospital. The facts of the crash are still being investigated, but investigators suspect excessive speeding on the part of the at-fault driver may have played a role.
Crews scoured the site and gathered evidence for approximately an hour, shutting down the intersection to traffic. It has since reopened, however, and the investigation is still active.
All of the victims of this incident are in our thoughts. We wish them a fast recovery.
Car Wreck Injuries Throughout Nevada
According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, almost 61,000 reported car accidents happened in the Silver State last year, with a considerable number of them ending in critical or even fatal injuries. In more serious car accidents, multiple drivers are usually involved, making the consequences in the aftermath that much worse.
Multiple injuries are far more likely in these collisions, in fact, especially when they happen at higher speeds or at intersections and on freeways, interstates, and similar locations.
Regrettably, these injury-causing crashes are unfortunately all too common in Nevada. This is particularly relevant in Las Vegas, Reno, Clark, Sparks, and Carson City, where the multi-lane thoroughfares and city streets are congested or packed with cars. Even worse, victims and their families are very vulnerable during the aftermath of these tragic wrecks.
Those involved in a catastrophic auto accident may experience substantial financial difficulties in addition to persistent injuries or physical pain, as well as emotional distress or trauma that requires ongoing therapy. When people die as a consequence of their injuries, their families are left with a pile of medical bills and high funeral costs, all as they attempt to begin the grieving process for their loved ones.
