In recent years, the number of actual fatalities among car and truck occupants per truck mile driven has declined, especially when compared to 1975, when fatal collision data was first gathered. The number of deaths per 81,330 truck miles decreased from 916 fatalities and 2,757 deaths among car occupants to 683 and 2,797 for every 297,593 truck miles traveled, respectively.

Still, according to the latest figures provided by traffic researchers, various commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, large buses, and more, were involved in nearly 340,000 collisions across the country in only one year.

Almost 4,200 of these crashes resulted in fatalities, with another 100,000 sustaining serious injuries. Unfortunately, terrible incidents like these happen all the time in Nevada. This is especially true in congested urban areas like Las Vegas, Sparks, Reno, Henderson, and Carson City.
