Injury and Fatality Data on Nevada’s Roadways

Las Vegas, NV - Major Car Crash, Injuries on US 95 at Eastern AveIt’s a frequent misconception that rural areas of Nevada mean that the Silver State doesn’t have a higher rate of fatalities and serious injuries. Regrettably, this isn’t the case. In fact, the majority of fatal crashes occur in urban areas, whereas the remaining third occur in rural areas.

Between 5 and 9 p.m., when people are leaving work and heading home, is when Nevada’s highway traffic is at its highest, while it is at its lowest between midnight and 6:30 a.m. The hours between five in the evening and eleven in the night saw the highest number of deadly incidents.

Even worse, more individuals than ever before have been killed or injured on Nevada’s roads in recent years. The Office of Traffic Safety reported that at least 280 individuals were killed in traffic-related incidents in 2016. At least one thousand Nevada residents required medical attention due to injuries sustained in automobile accidents in the year 2000. Victims of auto accidents may sustain life-changing injuries that impact virtually every bodily system, leaving them in a precarious position from a medical, financial, and emotional standpoint.

People who have been in car accidents may suffer from traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) due to blunt head trauma, such as a blow or a puncture. In addition, around 51,000 people lose their lives each year due to traumatic brain injuries, and another 100,000 people are left permanently unable to function as a result of these injuries.
