Las Vegas, NV (February 10, 2022) – A woman died and two others were hurt after a wrong-way crash happened on Wednesday evening, February 9.

The incident reportedly occurred on Russell Road, just west of Jones Boulevard, around 9:30 p.m. According to Las Vegas Metro Police Department officers, one driver was traveling in a Honda CRV, going westbound on Russell in an eastbound lane, when she hit an Acura MDX head-on.

The driver of the Acura, a 48-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene. The wrong-way driver, a 75-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and is still hospitalized in critical condition. 

A passenger in the Acura, an 83-year-old woman, was killed instantly. The Clark County Coroner’s Office has since identified the deceased victim as Sofia Baloaloa of Las Vegas.

The collision remains under investigation, and it’s unclear if citations or charges will be filed.
