Las Vegas, NV (January 7, 2022) – Police have now identified a man who died after being struck by a box truck driver early Tuesday morning, December 28, in the east valley.

Per officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, units responded to the area of Charleston Boulevard, close to Hollywood Boulevard and Tree Line Drive, around 5:30 a.m. for reports of a fatal hit-and-run.

Police later detained the driver, 34-year-old Jeffrey Dungo, in connection with the incident. Dungo reportedly fled the scene after hitting and killing the victim, now identified as 44-year-old Arturo Gomez.

Dungo is now in custody and facing several charges, including felony hit-and-run. The investigation remains active at this time, however, and further details have not been provided.
