Las Vegas, NV (December 13, 2021) – Authorities have identified a man who was killed in a serious vehicle crash that occurred early Friday morning, December 10, in downtown Las Vegas.

The man, identified as 50-year-old Julio Maymi-Diaz, died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries at an area medical center.

Police have arrested 24-year-old Daysia Brown in connection with the wreck, which was reported just before 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Gass Avenue.

Per Metro police, Brown was driving her Jeep eastbound on Gass when she ran a red light at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard. She then collided with a Toyota that was traveling northbound. Maymi-Diaz was riding as a passenger in the Toyota.

Brown remains in custody on a $50,000 bond at the Clark County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court this week on a charge of DUI resulting in death.

The investigation remains active, and further details about other occupants involved in the accident have not been released.
