Crashes Involving Semi-Trailer Trucks in Nevada

In recent years, the amount of deaths among vehicle occupants per truck mile driven has declined when compared to 1975, the year when fatal collision data was first gathered. The number of casualties per truck miles driven decreased from about 910 to 680, and there were approximately 2,800 fatalities for every 298,000 truck miles traveled.

Despite this, per a reference to the latest statewide traffic data, commercial vehicles such as 18-wheeler tractor-trailers, large city buses, and similar oversized vehicles were involved in nearly 350,000 collisions across the country in only one year. Close to 4,500 people died as a result and another 105,000 were critically wounded. Unfortunately, awful events like these happen all too often in Nevada.

This is of particular relevance in places with dense populations, such as in and around the urban regions of Sparks, Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, and Carson City.
