Las Vegas, NV (November 28, 2021) – A 58-year-old woman died after a crash that occurred in the south valley on Sunday evening, November 28.
Per a statement from LVMPD Lt. Bryan Boxler, police received a call about a woman attempting to cross South Las Vegas Boulevard at Agate Avenue, south of Pebble Road, on an electric scooter around 5:30 p.m. The woman was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Her identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next-of-kin notifications are completed.
Las Vegas Boulevard was closed in both directions at Agate Avenue as police investigated the cause of the incident. It’s unclear if the driver involved stayed at the scene.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim.
Pedestrian Accident Deaths in Nevada
Though pedestrian fatalities have decreased 3% from 2018, they still account for nearly 20% of all vehicle accident deaths, per reports from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Even worse, the pedestrian fatality rate in and around the Las Vegas area, including Reno, has been rising steadily during the past decade. This increase is despite the fact that traffic deaths across the state of Nevada are down on the whole.
Sadly, it’s all too clear that serious pedestrian accidents in Nevada are an unfortunate fact of life, particularly on the busy streets of Reno, Las Vegas, Clark, Carson City, and beyond. Furthermore, when it comes to these fatal accidents, victims and their families pay the price in the aftermath.
In fact, those affected often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and emotional trauma. When victims die as a result of these incidents, their loved ones may be left in an unbelievably tough position.
Families must often endure exorbitant medical and funerary expenses. And no one expects to sustain injuries or lose their life in a pedestrian accident. From lifelong debilitation for the involved pedestrians to severe trauma for those left behind when victims pass away, those affected are left to pick up the pieces.
Thankfully, if you’ve sustained injuries or lost a loved one in an auto-pedestrian accident, you may have legal options.
