Deaths in Pedestrian Crashes in North Las Vegas

North Las Vegas, NV - Child Hit & Killed in Accident at 3500 Ashby FieldThe Nevada Department of Transportation estimates that 2021 will be the worst year since 2005 for fatal and nonfatal vehicle accidents in the Silver State. In truth, there had been a 23 percent increase in traffic fatalities in Nevada by the end of December of the previous year, with a total of almost 390 deaths. In addition, nearly 240 people perished in Clark County, where the trend was notably worse. Unfortunately, excessive speed and impaired driving were the primary causes of these fatal crashes, particularly those involving pedestrians.

As a result of the statewide increase in pedestrian fatalities, the final total and statistics for 2021 may reveal that up to 80 individuals had perished by the end of the year. Unfortunately, a person hit by a distracted driver, such as one who is texting, chatting on the phone, or fiddling with the radio, is far more likely to die or have catastrophic injuries.

These events may leave victims with severe, long-lasting bodily and mental suffering. Even if victims recover completely, they may have to deal with the rapidly rising costs of medical care, lost income, and future pay, as well as other expenses. When a pedestrian dies, his or her family is forced to pay exorbitant medical and burial costs. If you or a loved one were wounded or killed in an avoidable accident, you do have alternatives. If you were injured in a pedestrian collision in the greater Las Vegas area, get legal assistance as soon as possible.
