Reno, NV – House Fire, Injuries at 10th St & Livestock Center Under Investigation

Reno, NV (November 24, 2021) – Troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol, together with the Reno Police Department, are investigating a fire that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, November 24.

Crews responded to a house fire that occurred on 10th Street near the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center and Coral Academy Middle School around 3:45 p.m. Witnesses reported heavy smoke across the Reno valley as a result of the blaze.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to just one residence. EMS units were also dispatched and appeared to transport at least two victims to an area medical center.

The investigation surrounding the cause of the blaze is ongoing, however, and further details have not been provided.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.

Residential Fires in Nevada

Reno, NV - House Fire, Injuries at 10th St & Livestock Center Under InvestigationWhen a victim is exposed to fire, caustic chemicals, or severe heat, they can sustain serious burns. In addition to these injuries being extremely painful, they can also result in permanent deformity, costly surgical treatments, including skin grafts, and beyond.

Sadly, in 2020 alone, almost 20 home fire fatalities were reported by authorities in the Silver State. Moreover, the national average was nearly 3 deaths and 10 injuries in 2019 per 1,000 fires. Though deaths and injuries from commercial fires, as well as other burn injuries, remain fairly rare, they are nonetheless devastating to those involved.

Furthermore, severe burns can result from any of the following accidents, including but not limited to:

  • Residential or commercial fires in buildings
  • Electrical shocks
  • Explosions
  • Construction or fracking accidents
  • Corrosive chemical spills

Those affected by these incidents often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and emotional trauma. When victims die as a result of these fires, their loved ones may be left in an unbelievably tough position. Families must often endure exorbitant medical and funerary expenses on top of grieving the sudden loss of their loved one.
