According to Nevada officials, drunk or drugged drivers are responsible for a considerable percentage of deadly incidents involving automobiles. As a consequence of impaired driving, the number of people killed or seriously wounded in traffic accidents in Nevada last year hit a record high. To make things worse, there have already been more than twice as many fatal vehicle accidents in Nevada this year as in the same period in 2020.

If you have been involved in an automobile accident and believe you could be hurt, it is vital that you consult a doctor immediately. Even if you think your collision was minor and that you only have muscle pain or other minor injuries, you may have underlying issues that are now symptomless but may deteriorate drastically in the future.

In fact, some common accident injuries include but are not limited to:

  • Injuries from airbags: Inflatable airbags on steering columns, dashboards, and other parts of a vehicle are intended to lessen the severity of injuries caused in automotive collisions. Airbags are generally wonderful devices that have saved many lives. However, they may become hazardous if they are malfunctioning, either failing to inflate after an accident or exploding without warning or reason.
  • Whiplash: When a reckless driver rear-ends another vehicle, they push the automobile forward as the occupants’ bodies resist the motion. This results in neck injuries like whiplash, which can have permanent repercussions such as persistent pain or paralysis.
  • Traumatic brain injuries: During a vehicle collision, a hit to the head is very harmful and may cause severe brain damage. What may seem like a moderate headache right now might be a sign of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that can be fatal if left untreated.
