Reno, NV – Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Mt Rose Hwy at Galena Forest

Reno, NV (January 30, 2022) – Authorities shut down Mount Rose Highway near Galena Forest on Sunday afternoon, January 30, after a fatal motorcycle accident.

Troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol reported that one driver and a motorcyclist collided in the area, causing the roadway to be closed in both directions for several hours. The roadway was reopened by 6:00 p.m.

Medics pronounced one person dead at the scene, though it’s unclear if other victims suffered injuries in the incident. Investigators are still piecing together the events leading up to the collision and have not provided further details.

The investigation remains active at this time.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim. Our thoughts are with any injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Fatal Motorcycle Accidents in Nevada

Reno, NV - Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Mt Rose Hwy at Galena ForestAuthorities with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report that nearly 13 passenger vehicles out of every 100,000 are involved in a fatal accident. Unfortunately, motorcyclists are at a much higher risk of serious injury and death.

In fact, crashes involving a motorcycle have a fatality rate of more than 70 per 100,000. Throughout the state of Nevada, there were over 50 motorcycle fatalities in just one year alone. This figure marks a decrease from the previous year, though motorcycle fatality rates over the past decade have been steadily rising.

Sadly, it’s all too clear that serious or even deadly motorcycle accidents in Nevada are an unfortunate fact of life, particularly on the busy streets of Reno, Las Vegas, Clark, Carson City, and beyond. Furthermore, when it comes to these fatal accidents, victims and their families pay the price in the aftermath.

Moreover, those affected often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and emotional trauma. When victims die as a result of these incidents, their loved ones may be left in an unbelievably tough position. Families must often endure exorbitant medical and funerary expenses.

From lifelong debilitation and disabilities for victims to severe trauma for those left behind when victims pass away, those affected are left to pick up the pieces.

Thankfully, if you’ve sustained injuries or lost a loved one in a motorcycle accident, you may have legal recourse.
