Reno, NV (March 21, 2022) – Officers with the Reno Police Department are investigating a serious crash involving a motorcyclist that happened on Sunday afternoon, March 20.

A motorcyclist was found unconscious at the scene of the incident, at the 600 block of Geiger Grade, and was taken to the hospital. The Nevada Department of Transportation reported that the southbound lanes of Geiger Grade were blocked from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. while officers investigated.

The motorcyclist’s current condition is unknown, and it’s also unclear if any other victims suffered injuries in the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of their full recovery.

Motorcycle Accidents in Nevada

Reno, NV - Victim Hospitalized After Motorcycle Crash at 600 Geiger GradeAuthorities with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report that nearly 13 passenger vehicles out of every 100,000 are involved in a fatal accident. Unfortunately, motorcyclists are at a much higher risk of serious injury and death.

In fact, crashes involving a motorcycle have a fatality rate of more than 70 per 100,000. Throughout the state of Nevada, there were over 50 motorcycle fatalities in just one year alone. This figure marks a decrease from the previous year, though motorcycle fatality rates over the past decade have been steadily rising.

Sadly, it’s all too clear that serious or even deadly motorcycle accidents in Nevada are an unfortunate fact of life, particularly on the busy streets of Reno, Las Vegas, Clark, Carson City, and beyond. Furthermore, when it comes to these fatal accidents, victims and their families pay the price in the aftermath.

Moreover, those affected often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and emotional trauma. When victims die as a result of these incidents, their loved ones may be left in an unbelievably tough position. Families must often endure exorbitant medical and funerary expenses. From lifelong debilitation and disabilities for victims to severe trauma for those left behind when victims pass away, those affected are left to pick up the pieces.

Thankfully, if you’ve sustained injuries or lost a loved one in a motorcycle accident, you may have legal recourse.
